The sound of How to Dress Well was, lets say—unsettling at first. Unpolished, and unprofessional were two words that sprung to mind. However, I began thinking... are my ears so tuned to the flawless rhythms of iTunes' "Top Ten" that I can no longer appreciate the imperfect? So I gave them another chance, dismissing the brainwashed thoughts of what music HAS to sound like. Music shouldn't be confined to formula; but rather, music should connect with its listener. How to Dress Well does just that.
Directed by Sam Norton, Bodies is a foggy look into the urban mind. Shot with an inexpensive DSLR and two actors, Bodies will remain as an example of what type of short film I'll strive to make while in Film School. Because seriously, how many more student films of random chases, hostages, and "struggling artist" can society take before riots begin?
I spent time in Chicago this summer and got to see some amazing things. Saw The Blue Man Group, "Billy Elliot" (the musical), and the filming of Transformers 3! Nothing against Blue Man and Billy, but seeing the glimpse I did of Transformer's filming definitely took the cake. A entire block in ruin, cars and buses burnt out, massive camera cranes looming over—the chaotic surroundings really gave me a dose of what I'm heading into. And I can't wait! Posted is a video I took of some explosive action, and some pictures from around the city. Thank you, iPhone 4.

Another one, fresh from the editing lab. I've been trying to tie up all my past projects, but it's taking longer than I thought. Oh and for those of you who are curious—no, I'm not aiming to emulate fascist ideology.
Fear/Love is a short film directed, written, and edited by Rob Chiu. His work (from what I've seen) is gritty, solemn, and harsh—yet beautiful. His eye for light is obvious. Fear/Love is a benchmark to the hight of emotion climax that is possible in a ten minute short film. It has inspired, and reconfirmed my direction in cinematic storytelling... Gosh I create a lot of havoc trying to compile words...

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Dubstep, I shall enlighten you... Dubstep first began in the underground scenes of London in the early 2000s, and has since dominated the U.K. Dubstep’s sound is unique, yet accessible. It’s the crack baby of reggae, electronica, garage, and grime. No matter how “FILTHY” or “HARD” the chune progresses, there is a distinct vibe you can’t help but nod to. Although the popularity of Dubstep in the U.K. is that of Pop, the U.S. population seems to be clueless. However, as more of Dubstep’s pioneers infiltrate the music scene of California, I predict in two years we’ll be hearing the likes of Eminem, Jay-Z, and Kid Cudi teaming up with Rusko, Excision, and Nero. 2012, the beginning of a new era—DUBSTEP!
Apricot is a short film by Ben Briand. Someday (preferably soon) I'd like to create a short film that is as captivating, simple, and beautiful as Apricot. If I aspire to have any kind of distinction in my directing, I aspire to create complex stories out of the ordinary lives of my characters. No monsters, no clownish villains, just honest occurrences and perseverances.
My summer has been amazing so far, going on trip after trip to places like New York City and Montréal. Saying that, I've been really backed up on my photography projects. Here's a few shots from my current project. Once I'm done editing, I'll post up the rest in the Gallery section. I'm still learning Photoshop so I can create greater dynamic color schemes, but for now Aperture will do.
